Jennifer J. Bentley

A musician at heart, Jennifer Bentley has carved a career in law much the way she learned how to play the piano; hard work and determination. Born in Ashland, Oregon, Jennifer grew up in Phoenix where she began playing the piano at the age of six and eventually went to college on a music and academic scholarship. I was not quite sure what I wanted to do as far as a career choice, but there were aspects of the law that I was always interested in since high school.. Her law career was put on the back burner early on after meeting her husband, a minister, and starting a family. I got busy raising my kids and did not work for 10 years, but eventually I decided to start working to help support the family.. Starting as an administrative assistant and then legal secretary at a law firm in San Diego, she went back to school and became a paralegal. Soon after, she graduated at Glendale University of Law and passed the bar. She worked very hard, of course, doing applicant workerss comp and eventually made partner at a firm specializing in the applicant side of workers' comp law. When her husband became an associate pastor at a church in the Inland Empire, the family moved to Hemet, and Jennifer joined a firm closer to her new home. During the course of practicing 20 years in the Inland Empire, she became colleagues with a couple of attorneys who worked on the defense side of Workers Comp. I met Ed Benthale and Mike McKibbin in court and had some cases with them. We became friends, and eventually when a job opened up in their Riverside office, I decided to go into the defense side and it has turned out to be an excellent choice for me.. Bentley says the experience on the applicant side has given her a bit of an edge in court. I am very familiar with the applicant tactics, and I enjoy building strong cases for our clients.. She joined Benthale, McKibbin and McKnight in May of 2013 and says this may be her last job in a long and successful career. I feel very much at home here, and I anticipate finishing my career as an attorney for this office. But that won't be for awhile.. Away from the office, Bentley is a big baseball fan, and still plays the piano in her husbands church. She is also a tireless worker for the Church of the Nazarene providing support for childrens education, senior housing, and medical programs for the uninsured and underinsured. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Point Loma Nazarene University and a member of the Advisory Board of the Southern California District Church of the Nazarene. I now have four grandchildren, and I play the piano and sing in church so I manage to stay busy.. ### Volunteer and Special Interests: Board Officer Christian School and Academy, Point Loma Nazarene University Board of Trustees, Advisory Board Member of Southern California District Church of the Nazarene.
