As a private practice attorney for more than two decades, Jason Morrison believes in foundational values.

"I operate in a competitive environment every day and my approach to those on the other side of the aisle has always been: "We may be adversaries, but we are not enemies."

Although he sees himself as more of a litigator than an arbitrator, his fundamental approach to law is to make sure the direction of the case, and the final solution, are always in the best interest of his client.

After graduating with an AA in Liberal Arts from Menlo College, he applied to several colleges including UCLA and USC. Having received an acceptance letter first from UCLA, Jason had some decisions to make.

"My family and I were long-time supporters of USC and especially their football program. So, when the opportunity came to attend UCLA, I had a bit of a conundrum. I ended up driving to the USC admissions office and showing them the acceptance letter from UCLA and I told them: 'Don't make me do this!'"

He was accepted to USC and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Growing up in Southern California, Jason was both competitive and entrepreneurial. He enjoyed racing sailboats--Hobie Cats and Lasers--and rode motocross motorcycles for fun. He did well academically and was just 16 when he landed a job at a prominent attorney's office where he learned the ropes serving first as a 'gopher' and later as a clerk.

One of his jobs at the firm was to help the investigators and sometimes accompany them in the field. It was there that he was introduced to photography. His passion for photography led to him seeking a job with the Kodak company. He was hired and eventually went to a Kodak training school in New York to learn the art of selling copying machines.

"I enjoyed my time at Kodak and enjoyed going up against the giants of the industry at the time--IBM and Xerox--but, somehow, I was drawn back to the law."

He enrolled at Western State University, School of Law, to pursue his Juris Doctorate. His experience clerking for the law firm had introduced him to the world of claims adjustments. While attending law school, he got a job working in the field first with AIG and later with Hartford. Eventually, with a heavy school workload competing for his time, he went to work for the National Claims Overloads System, where he could work a more flexible schedule.

"When I graduated from law school, I felt my experience in claims adjustments and in clerking with a highly rated personal injury firm, gave me the foundation to start my own practice."

And it did. After starting his office in his closet--"literally!"--he built a solid personal injury practice that lasted more than 20 years. In late 2023 he saw an ad for a position with Benthale, Mckibbon, and McKnight.

"I had reached a point in my career where I thought a bit of change would be good. When I met with Ed Benthale I was impressed. I knew immediately that this was the type of firm I wanted to be a part of and it was a good fit. They were the type of attorneys I like to be around."

Morrison joined the Riverside Office of Benthale, Mckibbon, and McKnight in November of 2023.

"Jason brings a wealth of experience to our firm and he's a pleasure to work with," says Ed Benthale, founder of BM&M. "He shares our commitment to the law and clients, and the fact that he's a pretty decent snowboarder is a plus as well!"

Away from the office, Jason enjoys photography, guitar, golf, and snowboarding.

"I enjoy just about everything there is to do between the beach and the mountains."
